Robbie Bennett President/Funeral Director

Robert (Robbie) Bennett is a licensed funeral director, embalmer, crematory operator and along with his wife Rhonda, he is co-owner of Bennett Funeral Service. A graduate of Maiden High School and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, with over 32 years experience as a funeral service professional. He served as District Director for the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association for six years, where he chaired several committees and served on the Executive board. Robbie is also a former member of the Bandys Volunteer Fire Department, has served two terms as past president of Balls Creek Lions Club and Balls Creek Optimist Club, and was elected by County Commissioners to serve on the Balls Creek Small Area Planning Committee.

Rhonda Bennett Vice-President/Business Manager

Rhonda (Lee) Bennett and her husband Robbie are  owners of Bennett Funeral Service. A graduate of Bandys High School and Fayetteville Technical Community College, she has completed her apprenticeship and is preparing to take her State Exam to become a licensed funeral director. Rhonda is a lifelong member of the Balls Creek Community, and prior to joining her husband in funeral service, she worked with Catawba County Schools.

Dayne Marsh Funeral Director

Dayne Marsh is a North Carolina Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Crematory Operator. He is a 2005 graduate of East Burke High School and a 2010 graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science.

He has passionately served families in the Piedmont and Lake Norman area for over 10 years. Dayne specializes in building relationships with each family he serves. During his career he has had the opportunity to participate in After-Care Groups and Funeral Home Management.

Dayne lives in Hildebran, NC, where he attends Shoup's Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his funeral service career, he has served as a firefighter with Icard Township Fire Rescue since 2015. He also enjoys fishing, hiking and spending time with his family and fiancé, Paige, along with his dogs, Lewis and Gunner.

Dave Blackburn Funeral Assistant

Dave began working with Bennett Funeral Service in 2013 as a funeral assistant. A native of Newton, Dave and his wife of 53 years, Doris Roseman Blackburn have two sons and two beautiful granddaughters.  He is a 1958 graduate of Newton Conover High School, member of Faith Baptist Church in Newton, a member of Masonic Lodge 248 in Newton and American Legion Post 16. Dave enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Kara Killian Funeral Service Apprentice

Kara P. Killian was born and raised in Maiden, NC. A graduate of Maiden High School and Fayetteville Technical Community College. She is currently serving her apprenticeship and looks forward to becoming a licensed funeral director.  She began working with Bennett Funeral Service in August 2015. The daughter of Karry and Debbie Poovey and granddaughter of Bob and Pat Poovey of Maiden. Kara is married to Jacob Killian and is a member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoys spending time with her family and her furbabies.  Kara is very dedicated to her profession and recognizes the true gift in helping to honor a life well lived.

 “Since my early teen years I have looked forward to pursuing this as my career. I would like to thank the Bennett family for taking me in as one of their own and for supporting my efforts to finish my schooling. The most important thing I’ve learned thus far is to treat each family as if it’s your own”.

Lori H. Edwards Administrative Assistant

Lori is a Catawba County native, a graduate of Bandys High School and Central Piedmont Community College with an AAS degree in Business Administration.  She comes to the funeral home with 18 years of legal assistant experience and is a NC Certified Paralegal, she began working with Bennett Funeral Service in February 2016.  The daughter of Mike and Donna Helderman of Newton; granddaughter of Pauline Helderman of Newton and the late Richard and Eathel Howard of Terrell.  Lori is married to Frank Edwards; they have three children. Lori is a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant UMC in Sherrill Ford. When not working Lori enjoys watching her children participate in sports, boating on Lake Norman and spending time with her family.

Monica joined Bennett Funeral Service in 2014 and works part-time as an administrative assistant.  She is a graduate of Maiden High School and Caldwell Community College. She and her husband Darrell reside in Newton and have four children. When not working, Monica enjoys playing with her grandson, shopping and being with her family making memories. She is a graduate of Maiden High School and Caldwell Community College.

Monica enjoys working at Bennett Funeral Service and having the opportunity to touch family’s lives during their difficult time.”

Mike Trouille Funeral Assistant

Mike began working as a part-time funeral assistant with Bennett Funeral Service in 2016. He was born and raised in the Balls Creek/Bandys Community.

Mike is a graduate of Bandys High School and a 23-year veteran fireman for Bandys Fire Dept. Station #2 and former owner of Ken's Body Shop in Maiden. Mike has been happily married to Beth Wright Trouille for 43 years, he has two sons and two grandchildren. Mike is a lifelong member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, he enjoys fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time at his log cabin.

Raymond joined Bennett Funeral Service as a part-time funeral assistant in 2015 after retirement.  He and his wife of 43 years, Denise Wells Hamrick reside in Newton, they have two daughters and enjoy spending time with their 4 grandchildren. Raymond is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He retired after 33 years of service from Mt. View Baptist Church in Maiden.  Raymond enjoys yardwork and riding his motorcycle.
